Maps of the Week #9 - Launch Edition!

Hi, guys!

What a week! Yes, we skipped last week’s Maps of the Week post (and we had to skip it for pretty much a whole month, oops… we were a bit busy with the launch, sorry!), but we had a reason! We wanted to give you guys plenty of time to create and finish editing your maps after launch!

Yes, Gunscape was launched a bit more than a week ago, and we’re really excited to review your maps!

This time, the whole team has been playing different community-created maps, and some of the maps featured this week were suggested by our developers and artists, who had a lot of fun playing them!

Winners

Title: Simple Space Quest: lvl 1

Creator: Idelade Admonte

Type: Co-Op

One of our developers recommended this map and it’s a good one! Part of a series, these maps are really well designed, from the ratio of items to enemies that you get, to the feel of the map itself. It’s also a big map that lets you explore (or, well, you’ll have to explore) and it’s not easy to solve. A few times we had to go back to certain areas to make sure we hadn’t missed anything!

Title: Escape Your Fate (part 1)

Creator: Anorexic_Buddah

Type: Co-Op

Sometimes the best levels barely have enemies… but they’re are full of traps. This is the case of the Escape your fate series (it has 3 parts). The maps are full of traps, moving environment, secret passages, secret levers that you need to pull to progress, but just a handful of enemies. It’s quite a challenge!

Title: The Great Crystal Escape

Creator: p00njubi

Type: Co-Op

A recommendation from one of our developers! An interesting map that uses a lot of our different packs and monsters… and somehow makes it work. It's a combination of scenarios and a few environmental challenges! We think you'll have fun with this one.

Title: Unreal twin towers

Creator: Xan Kriegor

Type: Co-Op / FFA / Team

We had to include this map because it’s a classic. Who doesn’t love a good Unreal Tournament map? We’re really happy to see that some people have built it already! Perfect map to fight against your friends or see who’s the last person standing!

Title: Onyx Temple

Creator: Cobra57fr

Type: FFA

People say that less is more and this map proves it. This map is a closed arena with different levels or platforms that you can access using jumping pads and ramps. It also gives you the right amount of weapons (and exciting weapons too!), you might just need to go around the map to collect them! Definitely a map you want to try with your friends.

And because there were so many maps to review… we’ll also leave a list of honourable mentions!

  • Digital Crash
  • Dust ll
  • Return to Tremor Forest Part 1
  • Cruiser Assault
  • Beyond the Dark Depths: Chapter 1
  • Bouncezone

Enjoying any other maps? Just finished your own and want us to check it out? Leave us a comment below with the name of it and we’ll test it! And if you think that we missed any good map, let us know too!

I see that one of my maps, Bouncezone, was an honerable mention. I consider that one just an experimental wacky map, please check out all my others, especially the solo play ones. Just search for [VID] in the titles.

Also, I recommend checking out anything by Storm. He uses [SLr] in his titles. Just excellent maps.

@Vidbergs Even if it was an experiment, your map was fun! We'll test your other maps though! And we'll make sure to check Storm's maps out too, thanks for letting us know :)
