Last week, we explained the traps that you can use to trick or hurt players and make your maps even more exciting. This week, we’ll be talking about how you can use the environment for that!
Environment
Traps are a good way to make levels harder for players, but another way that you can trick player is by using the environment. There are certain blocks that, if the player steps on them or gets too close to them, they will damage the player. You can also use these blocks together with traps and make a lethal combination!
Here are some of these blocks:
a) Tremor - Nukage
The Tremor block is basically a sort of “acid” block, that can be used as floors, ceiling or walls. It damages the player when they step on it.

b) Molten Steel - Relay
The Molten Steel block works like a “lava” block, as the previous one, it can be used as a normal block, and it also damages the player when they step on it.

c) Tesla - Relay
The Tesla block is an “electrified” block that can be placed anywhere and it hurts the player when they get too close to it.

Example
An example of what you could build with a combination of traps and environment is the following:

As soon as the player enters the room, they will find a set of trapdoors. If they don’t avoid them or jump over them, they will fall into a hole.
In this hole, they have a series of saw blades that they will have to avoid by sticking to one side of the the walls.

And finally, there’s a set of lava, acid and electric blocks waiting for the player on the bottom of the hole that could hurt them if they’re not fast enough to get out of there.

A bit too cruel, right? ;) but it would make things interesting and if you think that it’s too much, well you can always set up some health packs and a check point after that part.
